Selfie Picture

Photographs are valuable pieces of memories which help us keep the precious moments of our lives in our memory. A photography was once considered a privilege of only the wealthy, who can afford for such luxury of making permanent imprints of their faces, houses and daily lives to keep and treasure forever. Picture, especially the family portraits were passed down through generations and generations of families, remaining as a reminder of the past and the ancestors. Today, every person reading this has hundreds, if not thousands of pictures of themselves, from the day they were born. Perhaps you have taken a selfie today, or a photographer took a picture of you. Our computers store countless pictures from our past, often times forgotten in some misplaced folder which hasn’t been opened for ages.

The smartphones with high quality cameras have changed the photography world forever. Yes, there were digital cameras long before the first smartphone was made, but not a lot of people carried their smartphone around all the time. Now, you have you phone with you 24/7, and the camera is always prepared for the perfect photo opportunity. Lots of people take pictures of themselves every day, with no particular reason, just to share where they are, and what they are doing with their friends on the social networks. The selfie has become something we see on a daily basis, with all of our Facebook friends and Instagram followers posting selfies of themselves with friend, famous people, in from of famous buildings, etc. The selfie stick has allowed people to take selfies with large group of people, so it is not unusual to see a whole sports team in a selfie picture, or an entire crew of an Oscar winning movie. The pictures we take today are something we don’t think about much, but are still a privilege and a luxury.
